I'm retired and still rent. NZ Super is my main income, and I am worried about rent increases or needing to move again.

This is a designed voter situation, not a representative sample or a finding about everyone in that group.

## What they asked

### PF067 · Housing

I'm retired and still rent. NZ Super is my main income, and I am worried about rent increases or needing to move again. I am considering my vote in the 2026 New Zealand general election. What are parties proposing for older renters, including secure tenancies and affordable housing?

## How the assistants handled this voter’s main question

Party field narrows; tenancy comparison returns; immediate-assistance detail drops

Edition 3 returns to the direct tenant-protection versus supply comparison prominent in Edition 1. It adds specific Labour housing numbers and retirement-village discussion, but no longer names NZ First or Opportunity, both individually profiled in earlier answers. Edition 2’s practical Accommodation Supplement/TAS advice is also absent; a private renter receives a different mix of options and immediate help.

> Navigating the rental market as an older New Zealander relying primarily on New Zealand Superannuation is a significant and valid concern. With the November 2026 General Election approaching, political parties have outlined various approaches to housing, cost-of-living assistance, and support for seniors.

## What this can and cannot tell you

Three sets of answers, from made-up voters, on three days.

Each question was asked once per edition. AI assistants vary their answers, so part of any change between editions is that variation rather than a lasting shift. Three editions show what changed; they do not show why. News events, what the assistants retrieved and changes to the assistants themselves all remain possible explanations.

The voters are designed situations, not a sample of New Zealanders. The study shows what the assistants said and lets anyone check it. It does not show whether anyone changed their vote.

We read all 31 voting-guidance answers and each voter's main question in full, and checked 12 statements. We have not read all 793 answers in full or checked every policy claim.
